ASSIGNMENTS

Assignment 1:

  • Complete “Respond” #1 in text (page 40-41)
  • Type up in-class response: three possible topics for final essay and your persuasive pathos (emotional) claim for the topic

  • Bring in a list of 5-10 possible topics for your final essay. Remember, to be an argument, there has to be at least two sides.

  • Fallacies: Find three essays or articles online, read them, and then describe the logical fallacies in each article.
Assignment 5
  • Complete “Respond” #4 in text (page 120), bring to class for in-class discussion on Thursday, 02/21
Assignment 6
  • Find three “arguments of definition” on the university campus. These arguments can be in the form of posters, administrative documents, school advertisements, etc. Write a 250 word response explaining how and why these “products” meet the criteria for “arguments of definition.”
